Vehicles Guide

Easily add and manage your vehicles to keep track of their maintenance and service history.

Scan License Disc

Use the built-in scanner to capture your vehicle's license disc instead of typing details manually. The scanner uses your device camera to decode the disc data and submit it to the server.

  1. Open Scanner: From the Vehicles page choose Scan License Disc (or the Scan option when adding a vehicle).
  2. Grant Camera Permission: When prompted by your browser, click Allow to let the site access your camera. The scanner requires camera access to work.
  3. Select Camera: If a Camera Selection dropdown appears (labelled "Camera Selection"), pick the camera that corresponds to the rear/back-facing lens — it is often labelled "back", "rear" or shows your device maker. On phones this is typically the highest-resolution or "environment" camera. If labels are empty, try each option and press Start Scanner to test.
  4. Position the Disc: Hold the license disc steady inside the on-screen scan frame. Ensure good lighting, avoid reflections, and keep the disc roughly parallel to the camera.
  5. Start Scanning: Tap Start Scanner. The scanner will continuously attempt to read the license disc.
  6. What Happens Next: If the server accepts the scanned data it will first display and then save vehicle details. The scanner will then reset. If there is an error, an on-screen message will explain the problem.
  7. Reset/Stop: Use the Reset button to stop the scanner, clear results, and restore the camera overlay.
Troubleshooting:
  • Allow camera permissions.
  • If the camera list is empty, make sure no other app is using the camera and try refreshing the page.
  • Improve lighting and remove glare/reflections — move to a brighter area.
  • If scanning fails, switch cameras using the Camera Selection dropdown and try again.
